QUFA Executive's Position on Salary Reductions

Dear QUFA Members:

We would like our members to have a full understanding of the Executive's position on salary reduction before the Monday Dec 7 Special General Meeting. The issues are complex and demand a complex response. For that reason, we have composed the document, "QUFA’s Position Against Salary Reductions." We invite you to read it as the attached pdf document.

We also invite you to read John Holmes' article, “Reflections on Principal Woolf’s Financial Update Statement, November 26, 2009,” appearing in the latest QUFA VOICES as well as on the QUFA FORUM. The Holmes document provides a far clearer picture of the Queen’s financial situation than did the Principal, while exposing the weakness of the Principal’s arguments for cutbacks.

These two documents make clear that while there may be some surface altruistic appeal to proposals for voluntary wage cuts, the reasons against are far more numerous and compelling.
