Faculty Member Benefits: Queen’s University Faculty Association

ORIGINAL BARGAINING UNIT MEMBERS:1

Members are encouraged by QUFA to determine their eligibility for the following benefits programs. These programs are administered by Human Resources <http://www.hr.queensu.ca>. All queries, including those regarding application deadlines, should be directed to the H.R. office staff (613 533-2070). Application for the Childcare and Tuition Plans are administered online.

Standard Benefits. Members eligible for the following benefits should contact Human Resources with any questions upon appointment at Queen’s.

Shared Costs Benefits. Long Term Disability, Life Insurance, Travel Coverage, Dental Plan, and Group Insurance Plans.

Queen’s Pension Plan. Pension, Investments, and Insurance Office:

Childcare Support Plan. Members must provide receipts by February 1st for costs that were incurred during the previous calendar year.

Tuition Support Plan. Online applications must be completed by November 1st for the Fall term and February 28th for the Winter term. The award is made in two installments: $2000.00 in the Fall term, and up to $1000.00 for the winter term (subject to calculations on remaining balance of fund).   <http://www.hr.queensu.ca/tuition_childcare/tuition.htm>

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) at 1-800-397-4765 offers counselling for financial, personal, stress-related, vocational, childcare referral, and other issues.

NOTES:   1Members of the original bargaining unit are governed by the May 2002 - April 2005 Collective Agreement. This includes Tenure or Tenure-Track Faculty, Continuing Track/Continuing Librarians and Archivists, Non-Renewable Appointees, Non-Renewable Replacement Appointees, Special Appointees, Term Adjuncts, Initial or Renewable Adjuncts, Continuing Adjuncts, Special Term Adjuncts.
