  • No salary ceiling.

  • Individuals may negotiate for salary based on experience, workload, and market conditions in their discipline.

  • Child care benefit, up to $1000 per calendar year, for days when the member has scheduled teaching duties.

  • 3% of salary in lieu of benefits for those paid at the floor salary.

  • Increase in floor for 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 based on scale increases for original bargaining unit faculty.


Appointments:

  • All positions are subject to detailed posting and appointments procedures.

  • Members have the right of first refusal after teaching the same course two times and receiving two good evaluations in two academic years.

  • Members have the same right to evaluation as other faculty members.

  • Members appointed as Commuting Adjuncts will be reimbursed for travel expenses.


Working Conditions / Academic Responsibilities:

  • Members are entitled to a Professional Expense Reimbursement of $150 per .5 credit course.

  • Members will have library and email access before and after their teaching term, to facilitate course preparation.

  • A Research Fund of $20,000 per annum will be created May 1, 2004. Members are eligible to apply for funds up to $1500 per year.

  • Members have a right to additional compensation for extra services requested by Unit Head.


Grievance / Arbitration:

  • Members have the same rights to grieve as full-time faculty, and are subject to the same protections.


Academic Freedom:

  • Members have the same right to Academic Freedom as full-time faculty.

  • Employment Equity and Non-Discrimination provisions protect Members from arbitrary actions.


Miscellaneous:

  • Regulation of Disciplinary Actions taken against Members.

  • Protection of Intellectual Property.

  • Creation and Maintenance of an Official File.
