Queen’s Special Pension Statement

We are pleased to inform you that the Special Pension Statement summarizing your benefits earned in the Revised Pension Plan of Queen’s University (“QPP”) prior to conversion to the University Pension Plan Ontario (“UPP”) has been mailed to your home address. The statement may also be accessed via Pension Self-Service.

Please note that the information provided on the Special Statement reflects the pre-conversion benefits that you accrued under the QPP up to and including June 30, 2021 and were transferred to, and are now payable from, the UPP effective July 1, 2021. As such, the statement is different than prior years, and sets out account balances and the minimum guarantee pension accrued as at June 30, 2021.

Note, as well, that in the spring of 2022 you will receive your first Annual Statement from the UPP that will cover both the pre-conversion benefits (which will continue to be based on the QPP’s hybrid structure) and post-conversion UPP benefits; the delivery option for these future statements can be selected via the “Personal Information” tab of Pension Self-Service.

And finally, members can use the Pension Projection Tool in Pension Self-Service to run their own blended retirement projections.
