Bargaining

This page includes all the important information about bargaining including Alerts, events, and resources.

The current Collective Agreement expired on June 30 2022. QUFA and Queen’s began to negotiate a new contract in June and continue to meet to exchange proposals. The features of the expired agreement continue in force until or unless we move to job action (strike or lockout or both).

Please see below for regular progress updates (Bargaining Alerts) and background information (Bargaining Resources). The Job Action Committee is active; you can reach its chair, Amanda Ross-White at Amanda.ross-white@queensu.ca. You can always reach the Chief Negotiators, Amy Kaufman and Leslie Jermyn, at qufa@queensu.ca.

Please watch your email and check back frequently for bargaining news and information.

Call for Job Action Committee Members

As outlined in recent negotiating updates, bargaining with the university administration for a new Collective Agreement continues.  While it is our hope that a mutually satisfactory Collective Agreement can be negotiated without job action, we must be ready in the event that such action is needed.  To that effect, QUFA is seeking volunteers for the Job Action Committee (JAC).

QUFA’s Job Action Committee is responsible for coordinating strike pay and all expenses related to a strike, all aspects of picketing, and securing and running a strike headquarters. A well-run JAC will be crucial to the success of any potential job action. In addition, sub-committees will be established under the direction of the JAC to focus on the three core responsibilities noted above.  Any and all QUFA members are welcome to join the committee. If you are interested in joining QUFA’s Job Action Committee, please contact Amanda Ross White, QUFA’s Job Action Chair at amanada.ross-white@queensu.ca. We especially encourage members of equity-seeking groups to volunteer.
